Build vs. buy-and-then-use-the-wrong-or-unintended-way

We’ve all seen the arguments, many times quite passionate by both sides of the build vs buy argument. However, what I see so often these days in times where some people are blindly wanting to buy and use COTS products is the argument of building vs using a product that is owned but not a good solution for the problem at hand. Of course, this is not always the case, but it does seem to be on the rise.
